Cutimed Sorbact, Tamponade, Antimicrobial Wound Dressing, Sterile
Sterile, bacteria-binding tamponade with a DACC coating—for deep wounds, fistulas, and wound cavities.
Description
Deep wounds, fistulas, and wound cavities cannot be treated with a flat dressing—they must be packed. Cutimed Sorbact is available in strip form for this purpose; it is inserted into the wound cavity, where it exerts its bacteria-binding effect.
Bacteria such as MRSA and VRE, as well as fungi, bind to the DACC-coated surface, are irreversibly trapped, and their growth is inhibited. When the tamponade is removed, they leave the wound along with it—purely physically, without any active ingredient. Fungal skin infections also fall within the tamponade’s scope of application.
Key Features
- Tamponade strips for insertion into wound cavities
- Bacteria-binding DACC coating (Sorbact technology)
- Purely physical mechanism of action, free of active ingredients
- Irreversibly binds MRSA, VRE, and fungi
- No known contraindications
- Sterile
- Not manufactured with natural rubber latex
- Sizes: 2 × 50 cm and 5 × 200 cm
Applications
- Deep wounds and wound cavities
- Wounds following excision of fistulas and abscesses
- Infected and contaminated wounds
- Fungal skin infections
Summary
Controlling microbial growth in packed wound cavities is particularly difficult because antiseptics are hard to control in that environment. A strip that binds microbes and removes them during dressing changes circumvents this problem.
