In order for long-term care aids to be covered by the long-term care insurance fund, the individual must have a recognized long-term care level. Individuals with long-term care levels 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 are eligible.

In addition, the person in need of care must be receiving care in a home setting. In this case, Section 40(2) of SGB XI applies. The long-term care insurance fund covers the costs of consumable care aids up to a monthly amount of €42.

These include, among other things, disposable gloves, disinfectants, bed pads, and personal protective equipment.

Care may be provided by private caregivers, such as family members, friends, or acquaintances. Even if an outpatient care service provides additional support, the entitlement may still apply.

Another requirement is that the person in need of care be cared for at home or in a comparable private living environment.

If the person has a recognized care level between 1 and 5 and care is not provided exclusively in an inpatient setting, care aids can be obtained through the long-term care insurance fund. The basis for this is Section 40(2) of SGB XI.

Costs are covered up to 42 € per month. Eligible items include, for example, disposable gloves, disinfectants, bed protectors, and other protective materials.

Care may be provided by family members, friends, acquaintances, or another private caregiver. Supplementary support from a home care service is also possible.

Care aids are products that support people in need of care and their caregivers in their daily lives. They are designed to make caregiving easier, prevent or alleviate discomfort, and help people maintain as independent a lifestyle as possible.

Anyone in need of care who has been assigned a recognized care level may apply for the Altruan Care Supplies Box. Family members or other caregivers may also submit the application on their behalf.
